ADHD Assessments in Melbourne
ADHD Assessments in Melbourne
Are you or your child finding it hard to focus, stay organised or manage emotions?
Our team of experienced psychologists in Melbourne provide comprehensive ADHD assessments that help you better understand attention, learning and executive functioning strengths and challenges.
People often arrive here after years of being told they are careless, disorganised or not trying hard enough. Others notice their child working twice as hard as everyone else for half the result. Some come only once their own child has been assessed, and something clicks.
An assessment does not change who you are. What it does is give you an accurate picture of how your attention and thinking actually work, language to explain that to the people around you, and a basis for the supports and adjustments you may be entitled to at school, at university or at work.

What an ADHD Assessment Involves
No two assessments look exactly the same. What we do depends on your age, what you are hoping to understand, and what information is already available. Most assessments, though, follow the same broad path.
- Initial consultation. We start by listening. You tell us what brought you here, what a typical day looks like, and what you are hoping the assessment will answer. For children, this is usually a conversation with parents or carers.
- Standardised testing. We use published, evidence-based measures that map onto the DSM-5-TR criteria for ADHD. These look at attention, impulsivity, activity levels and executive functioning, and how they show up across different settings.
- Collateral information. ADHD does not look the same at home as it does at school or work. With your consent, we gather observations from parents, teachers or referring practitioners, so the picture is not built on one perspective alone.
- Feedback session. We sit down with you and go through what the results mean in plain language. This is a conversation, not a verdict: you can ask questions, disagree, and take the time you need.
- Comprehensive report. You receive a written report setting out the findings and practical recommendations, in a form you can share with a school, GP, workplace or the NDIS if that is useful to you.
An ADHD assessment can also be combined with an autism assessment as they commonly co-occur. An assessment of cognitive abilities and/or academic achievement can also be added if necessary. Please get in touch with the clinic to discuss tailoring the assessment specific to your needs.

Who We Work With
Children from 4 to 12 years, whose difficulties are showing up at school or at home.
Teenagers and young adults, often as schoolwork and independence start asking more of them.
Adults seeking clarity later in life, sometimes after recognising themselves in a child’s diagnosis.
Parents and schools looking for guidance on learning or behaviour concerns.

ADHD Assessments in Melbourne with Neuroaffirming Psychologists
We understand ADHD as part of neurodiversity, not a deficit
An assessment should leave you understanding yourself or your child better, not feeling reduced to a list of symptoms. ADHD brings real difficulties, and it also comes with ways of thinking that are worth recognising rather than correcting.
That shapes how we work. We look for strengths alongside challenges, we explain what we find rather than handing over a label, and we write recommendations that are meant to be used, not filed away.
