Counselling for Children
Counselling can help your child navigate through their difficulties, as well as teach them skills and strategies to cope with any current and future problems.
Working with children requires a skillset quite different from working with adolescents and adults. For counselling to be effective with children, the psychologist must build rapport so the child feels safe and free to open up, and use a mixture of play and targeted activities to help your child learn and grow. The psychologists must also utilise communication techniques that are authentic and appropriate to your child’s level of development.

Counselling For Adolescents
Adolescence is a time of heightened anxiety, stress, and uncertainty. Teens these days are struggling to cope with increased study demands, social pressures, and are continuously faced with the ever looming question “what do you want to do when you finish high school?” Social media adds another layer of complexity, as it tends to create “fear of missing out”, encourages the tendency to compare oneself to others, and is the type of medium that makes bullying and peer-pressure all too easy.
Your Mind Matters Psychology Services have psychologists available (“The Psych Squad”) who are able to provide adolescent counselling services. For more information about this service, contact our administration team.
