Referrals and Fees
Although you do not need a referral to see a psychologist, it is recommended that you obtain one so that you can claim Medicare Rebates as our fees vary from $220-$280, depending on who you see and the time of your appointment. Rebates range from $93.35 - $137.05 (or 80% of the gap if you have reached the Medicare Safety Net for the year).
Please note that the Australian Psychological Society's recommended fee per session is currently $300 per consult.
A number of referral pathways are available at Your Mind Matters Psychology Services. If you are unsure as to which referral is most suited to you, please contact us and we can assist you with understanding and obtaining the most suitable referral.
- Mental Health Care Plans – Your GP (Doctor), Psychiatrist or Paediatrician can arrange this for you. A Mental Health Care Plan will grant you access to a total of 10 heavily subsidised counselling sessions per calendar year.
- Private Referrals
- Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
- NDIS (Self and Third-Party Managed))
Please note that if you are seeking support through VOCAT, WorkCover, or TAC, clients are required to pay the clinician's usual fee and seek reimbursement through their funding organisation.
Payments are required at the time of appointment and can be made via EFTPOS, credit card (Visa, Master Card) or cash. We have Medicare Online Claiming also, which allows us to process your rebate on the spot rather than going in to a Medicare office.
Cancellation Policy
Your Mind Matters Psychology Services have amended their cancellation policy to help reduce the financial burden on our clients for cancellations, whilst still ensuring that our psychologists, who have reserved an hour of their time for your appointment, are not inconvenienced by late cancellations or non-attendances.
COUNSELLING APPOINTMENTS - At Your Mind Matters, we follow the Australian Psychological Society's cancellation guidelines. Clients will be required to pay 100% of their session fee for cancellations made within 24 hours of their appointment, or 50% if providing 24-48 hours' notice. However, if our administration team, who maintain an active wait list, can fill that session time with another client, we will not charge the cancellation fee at all.
ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENTS - To secure your appointment, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50%, which will go towards the total fee providing you attend. If you cancel your appointment within 48 hours of assessment, this deposit will be used as the late cancellation fee. However, if our administration team, who keep an active wait list, are able to fill your appointment time slot following a late cancellation, you will not be charged the late cancellation fee.
NON-ATTENDANCE - Clients who do not attend their scheduled appointment without notifying us will be charged a “no show” fee, which is equivalent to the full cost of the consultation. Please note that we require all outstanding fees to be paid prior to booking subsequent appointments.
We don’t want clients to miss appointments or to incur the cancellation fee, so to reduce the risk of this occurring, we will attempt to send a courtesy text message reminding you of your appointment 3 days prior. If you do not have a mobile phone to receive text messages, we may attempt to call you instead.
Please note, if our administration team are able to fill your session time with another client, we will not charge you the cancellation fee at all. This applies to counselling and assessment appointments.
