Referrals and Fees
Although you do not need a referral to see a psychologist, it is recommended that you obtain one so that you can claim Medicare Rebates.
A number of referral pathways are available at Your Mind Matters Psychology Services. If you are unsure as to which referral is most suited to you, please contact us and we can assist you with understanding and obtaining the most suitable referral.
- Mental Health Care Plans – Your GP (Doctor), Psychiatrist or Paediatrician can arrange this for you. A Mental Health Care Plan will grant you access to a total of 10 heavily subsidised counselling sessions per calendar year.
- Private Referrals
- Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
- Victims of Crime
- Autism Initiative – Helping Children with Autism referral
- Better Start for Children with Disability Initiative
Payments are required at the time of appointment and can be made via EFTPOS, credit card (Visa, Master Card) or cash. We have Medicare Online Claiming also, which allows us to process your rebate on the spot rather than going in to a Medicare office.
Your Mind Matters Psychology Services have amended their cancellation policy and procedures to help reduce the financial burden on our clients for cancellations, whilst still ensuring that our psychologists, who have reserved an hour of their time for you for counselling, and up to 3 hours for assessment, are compensated for any late cancellations.
COUNSELLING APPOINTMENTS - We charge clients a reduced fee of $75 for any cancellation made within 24 hours of their scheduled appointment time, or the full cost of the consultation if cancelled with less than 4 business hours notice. To reduce the risk of this occurring, you will receive a text message reminding you of your appointment 3 days prior. If you do not have a mobile phone to receive text messages, we will attempt to call you instead.
If you do not attend your appointment, and do not notify us, the "no show" fee will apply, which is equivalent to the full cost of your consultation.
ASSESSMENT APPOINTMENTS - To secure your appointment, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50%, which will go towards the total fee providing you attend. If you cancel your appointment within 48 hours of assessment, this deposit will be used as the late cancellation fee. To reduce the risk of this occurring; we will send you a text message reminding you of your appointment 3 days prior. If you do not have a mobile phone to receive text messages, we will attempt to call you instead.
Please note, if our administration team, who maintain an active wait list, are able to fill your session time with another client, we will not charge you the cancellation fee at all. This applies to both counselling and assessment appointments.
