NDIS Services
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support to people with a disability, their families and carers. It is jointly governed and funded by the Australian and participating states and territory governments.
The main component of the NDIS is individualised packages of support to eligible people with disability. By the time the NDIS is fully implemented (“rolled out”) in 2019 across all regions in Australia, it is expected that around 460,000 Australians will receive individualised supports.
Over the last few years, our team at Your Mind Matters have provided Early Intervention services to children with disabilities, predominantly Autism Spectrum Disorder, as funded by DSS (formerly FaHCSIA). As the NDIS rolls out, it will replace DSS/FaHCSIA funding. Until then, we will remain eligible to provide services under both funding schemes.
SO HOW DO I GET ONTO THE NDIS?
First of all, find out if you are eligible. Head to this website to read eligibility criteria: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible
If you think you meet criteria, you can apply to join the NDIS by heading here: https://www.ndis.gov.au/people-with-disability/access-requirements/completing-your-access-request-form.html
After you have applied, you will know within 21 days if you are approved. If you are approved, you’ll receive a Letter of Eligibility and a Planning Meeting will be organised, whereby you’ll discuss how to spend allocated funds based on your needs and goals.
If Early Childhood Early Intervention or Therapeutic Supports is included as part of the plan, you are welcome to nominate us as your preferred provider, we’d be happy to help!
Please note that we are only able to provide support to participants who are Plan-Managed or Self-Managed (not NDIA managed)
